POWER SUPPLY VAR CONST.CURRENT 30mA/30V DC MAX

SKU IE-LB2618-002 Category

Description

POWER SUPPLY VAR CONST.CURRENT 30mA/30V DC MAX

This is a special purpose compact laboratory power supply which may be used for electrical experiments requiring set currents rather than set voltages. The output current can be set from zero up to 30mA and the maximum voltage available to supply this current is 30Volts.

Constant Current: What Does it Mean?

A constant current power supply automatically adjusts it output voltage to try to keep a steady current through the load. If the output is set for say 10mA, if the output is short circuited, the voltage falls so that the current flowing remains at 10mA. If the output terminals are open circuited, the voltage rises as far as it can go to try (but fails) to drive 10mA through the open circuit. In circuits where the magnetic field must remain steady, the current must remain steady regardless of changes in temperature and coil resistance changes. If a capacitor is to be charged at a steady rate, a constant current source is required … and so on. Mains power is controlled by an ON/OFF switch and the large digital meter can be selected to indicate the set current or to monitor the output voltage
